Gentle Touch

This circular piece embodies delicacy through its sculptural technique. I built up layers of modeling paste and heavy body acrylics to create those feather-like forms, highlighted with gold leaf that catches light at different angles. The textured background gives it an organic, almost fossil-like quality. It’s about those fleeting moments of tenderness – how something as light as a touch can leave such a lasting impression.

The composition mirrors nature’s own gentle persistence – like wind shaping stone over time. Those raised, petal-like forms reaching across the circle suggest growth, while the rough, crystalline texture beneath speaks to strength beneath softness. Notice how the metallic accents seem to flow naturally along the ridges, like veins of precious metal in marble. The round format itself creates an intimate viewing experience, like peering through a lens at something precious and ephemeral being preserved.
