Fear of Ambition presents a striking philosophical diptych that explores the eternal dance between fear and aspiration through the powerful metaphor of two distinct wild creatures. In this pairing, I created a profound dialogue about the dual nature of survival and success in both the natural world and our human experience. The eyes reflect not just simple fear, but the necessary caution of prey – a reminder of how awareness of danger is itself a survival skill. In contrast, the tiger’s profile embodies focused intensity, its gaze directed upward and outward, suggesting forward momentum and purposeful intent. Together, these pieces invite us to contemplate how fear and ambition interact in our own lives – how they can either paralyze or motivate, protect or propel us forward. The pairing suggests that perhaps true wisdom lies not in eliminating either emotion, but in understanding how they balance and inform each other, just as predator and prey define each other’s existence in nature’s grand design.
