Golden Mask

With this Golden Mask… I wanted to explore the interplay between light and shadow, between what we reveal and what we conceal. The face emerges from darkness like a mask made of golden light, with silver and gold accents creating a constellation of thoughts or dreams around it. The technique here was quite different from my other metallic pieces. I built up the face using layers of gold tones against the deep black background, creating an almost sculptural quality. The rough, textured application suggests something emerging from darkness, or perhaps dissolving into it – I wanted to leave that interpretation open to the viewer.

The abstract marks and metallic dots floating around the face represent the thoughts, dreams, or perhaps memories that surround our conscious self. Some are rendered in silver, others in gold, creating a dance of precious metals that frames the face like a personal cosmos. These marks have their own energy – some feel like writing, others like musical notes or abstract symbols.
